Greeting

From the year 1981, cancer (malignant growths) has been the leading cause of death in Japan, and with an aging society an increase in the number of cancer-related deaths is looming.

It is the same around the world. According to the 2008 World Cancer Report compiled by the IARC (International Agency for Research on Cancer), the number of people that were diagnosed with cancer was estimated to be 12.4 million of which 7.6 million died. In 2030, that number is expected to rise to an estimated 26.4 million patients with a death toll of 1.7 million.

Since its founding in January of 2000, Canbas has set a business objective of "Getting better anticancer drugs to patients even 1 day earlier" for its development of anticancer drugs. The company has also established corporate philosophies which are "Be Fair" and "Continue down the correct path in the shortest distance and time in a scientific, logical, and economical manner."

A good anticancer drug is one that comfortably extends the life of the patient. In other words, it is an anticancer drug that has a low impact on normal cells.

Our company has been focusing on the mechanism of the "G2 Checkpoint Abrogation," which has been determined as a plausible candidate for making a low-impact anticancer drug.

Our first candidate compound CBP501, which was acquired from the optimization of original peptide TAT-S216, is proceeding with clinical development.

CBS9106, which was found and optimized from the below screening process, is out of the pipeline and is also undergoing pre-clinical trials as of 2009.
Also, G2 Checkpoint Abrogation, which is the drug discovery target of this company, is progressing under our original screening process. Data mining technology from NEC was introduced into this screening process.
The goal of this company is continue to find new candidate compounds, and to create and make drugs in a high added-value value chain as an independent drug discovery company.
