Ovarian

Phase I studies were completed to evaluate CBP501 in combination with Cisplatin in the treatment of ovarian cancer. CBP501 was shown to be safe and well-tolerated. Partial response was observed in a number of patients, including an expanded cohort of previously platinum-refractory or platinum-resistant patients.

Epithelial ovarian cancer affects approximately 204,000 women annually worldwide, ranking second among gynecologic cancers and causing an estimated 125,000 deaths. Dubbed ‘the silent killer’, ovarian cancer causes few symptoms until it has metastasized within the peritoneal cavity, when chance of cure is markedly reduced. Although ovarian cancer is more sensitive to chemotherapy than other tumors, the 5-year survival is just over 50%. First-line therapy is most commonly platinum plus taxane.

We believe that a doublet combination of Cisplatin plus CBP501 will show increased efficacy over current platinum-based standard of care regimens, and we plan to advance CBP501 into Phase II studies in ovarian cancer.
